MCHD Announces Leadership Transition Following Retirement of Brian Wood

DECATUR, IL - The Macon County Health Department (MCHD) announces the retirement of Brian Wood, Director of Environmental Health, after six years of dedicated service. Brian’s leadership has played a key role in strengthening environmental health programs and protecting the health of our community.


With this transition, the MCHD is proud to announce the promotion of Jerry Brown, currently Assistant Director of Environmental Health, to the role of Director of Environmental Health and Emergency Preparedness, effective immediately. Jerry has been with the MCHD for over six years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. He remains committed to keeping Macon County residents and visitors safe through the enforcement of local and state ordinances and public education.


“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue our division’s mission of protecting the environment and ensuring community safety through all the responsibilities of our multifaceted program,” said Jerry.


The MCHD thanks Brian Wood for his years of service and congratulates Jerry Brown on this well-deserved promotion.
